June

Who are you, asks Emily. I say some body. She says she is no body. We are frogs in a monsoon bog. Just now I am a frog in a bog in a blog. But I croak just like the nobody frog in the old monsoon bogs.

I am still some body. But I am June to disappear when I shall be nobody. All those who are June will disappear their bodies to become nobody.

All frogs croak happily in June. But October fog brings the sun to dry up our bogs and there will be no more bogs for us to croak from. Then when Emily asks who are you ,we say we have just croaked.

(After Emily Dickinson’s poem “I am nobody …”
